Pips, Chips & Videoclips’ music is a great example of modern pop composition – stylishly diverse, thematically provocative and visually attractive. The band’s career emerged as early as 1992, when their single “Dinamo I Love You” crashed all the record lists and became the undisputed hit of the year. The critics claimed it was the Croatian version of “Anarchy In UK” by the Sex Pistols, an authentic urban anthem that revives rebellious character in society. It is worth mentioning that their hit song “Dinamo I Love You” in seven and a half years has not once been broadcasted on state TV and radio programs.
The fact that the band’s debut was a great success in the first years was fortunate. During the war, the record industry did not have the ability to materialize the popularity of a song of an unknown band, and the constant political plight prevented wider concert activity. However, the inaugural album “Shimpoo Pimpoo”, released in late 1993, left a good pledge for the future. The album was stylish, with extremely versatile material, ranging from “cabaret pop” to a songs with more of a fiery punch. It took time for their audience to become accustomed to the eclectic style of the band, characterized a lot of pop music in the nineties.
Pips, Chips & Videoclips show that it is possible to escape the narrow corners of the environment in which they were created to play and share their music with the world. They are a band that is always ready to meet the expectations of the audience, regardless of the circumstances. Their audiences have thanked them by awarding Pips, Chips & Videoclips the “Black Cat Award” for the best live performance.
Join us on Wednesday for a great night of music!
